Chronology | Torpedo transport vessel. 1886: Laid down at the Navy Yard in Amsterdam. 16 May 1888: Commissioned. 1894: Mast replaced by a folding mast. This would enable her to pass below the railway bridges in the Merwede canal 1894: Torpedo gun installed (stripped form the Johan Willem Friso) 1904: New boiler installed at the KM De Schelde yard. 1914 - 1918: Air station and Submarine Service depot ship in IJmuiden and later Den Helder. Winter 1924-1925 : Refitted for 53cm submarine torpedoes. 1937: Decommissioned. Relieved by Mercuur (2). |
