Chronology Former spar- torpedo (later visch-torpedo) boat.
Original name was XXII but renamed Hekla when commissioned.
1885: Tubes fitted and 'spars' removed by Yarrow & Co, London.
1893: Sails removed.
This vessel guarded submerged submarines or was on standby whenever
a submarine was submerged. She also picked up practice torpedoes
and was used to train submarine personnel
Relieved by the Ardjoeno
