Chronology | Bergingsvaartuig stands for "salvage vessel" Built especially to salve submarines. Also used during submarine trials in Vlissingen. 22 Apr 1911: Laid down. Late 1911: Completed. Feb 1914: Salvaged submarine O 5 18-19 Jun 1914: Assisted as fireboat during fire at the saw mill of the De Schelde yard. 25 Jun 1914: Returns to Willemsoord (Den Helder naval base). On standby at Willemsoord (Den Helder naval base) whenever a submarine was submerged. 6 - 9 Jun 1916: Salvaged auxiliary minesweeper Schelde. ?1916/1919?: Salvaged O 2 and Sch 219. Apr - May 1918: Salvaged the G11 off Terschelling. Feb 1921: Salvaged the Hydra. 1934: Refitted to oil hulk. Cranes not removed. 1935 - 1940: Oil hulk at Den Helder. 15 May 1940: Captured by the Germans. 1945: Sold to ship yard De Schelde. 1964: Sold to Bijkers Aannemingsbedrijf in Gorichem (sister co. of De Schelde). Used for work on the locks in Vlissingen. 1968: Sold for scrap to W.Bijker at Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. |
