1941

30 Sep 1941: Taurus is laid down at the Vickers Armstrong shipyard in Barrow in Furness (U.K.).

7 Dec 1941: The USA declares war on Japan after Japanese forces attack Pearl Harbour. Approximately 7 hours after the attack the Netherlands also declares war on Japan.

14 Dec 1941: Japanese planes bomb Tarempah (Anambas Islands) which is Netherlands East Indies territory.

27 Dec 1941: Japanese invaders occupy Tambelan Islands, Dutch territory, between Borneo and Singapore.

1942

27 June 1942: Taurus is launched

7 Nov 1942: Taurus is commissioned to the British Royal Navy.

1945

8 May 1945: Germany surrenders.

15 Aug 1945: Japan surrenders.

1948

Taurus is transferred (on loan for a period of 5 years) to Royal Netherlands Navy

4 June 1948: Taurus is renamed Dolfijn (2) and commissioned to the Royal Netherlands Navy.

4 June - 7 Sep 1948: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

1949

1 Sep - 25 Oct 1949: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

Nov 1949: Dolfijn (2) and Zeehond (2) participate in a British Royal Navy exercise

25 Oct - 31 Oct 1949: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

31 Oct 1949 - +/-25 Feb 1950: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  . He makes various trips to the Atlantic and Norwegian coast for testing and trials (including testing the snort system).

1950

13 Feb - 28 Mar: Dolfijn (2) makes a trip to Bornoya , Jan Mayen and Tromso (Norway). During this trip she snorts for 450 hours in almost one stretch.

gets sick and therefore will be relieved in Bergen (Norway).

+/-25 Feb - 25 Sep 1950: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. II  / Ltz. I  .

Mar - Apr 1950 Dolfijn (2) makes a journey to the Arctic Ocean.

25 Sep - 19 Oct 1950: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

1951

27 Feb - 24 Apr 1951: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

24 Apr - 18 Dec 1951: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

1953

12 Nov - 7 Dec 1953: Dolfijn (2) is under the command of Ltz. I  .

7 Dec 1953: Dolfijn (2) is decommissioned and transferred back to the British Royal Navy

8 Dec 1953: Dolfijn (2) is renamed Taurus and is commissioned to the British Royal Navy once again.
